Bloomberg ban stalled by NAGR activists

This past summer, billionaire Mayor Michael Bloomberg and his anti-gun cabal — “Mayors’ Against Illegal Guns” (MAIG) — poured thousands of dollars into a media blitz aimed at forcing through their plan to ban all private firearms sales. Senate Bill 843 was introduced at Bloomberg’s behest by noted anti-gunner Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ).

Senate Bill 843 was written by Bloomberg’s anti-gun cronies to ban all Private Firearm Sales and force law-abiding citizens to submit themselves to Federal background checks — and backdoor firearm registration — and license fees just to participate in legal commerce.

Bloomberg’s group was prepared to spend millions to flood the television airwaves with their anti-gun propaganda targeting a number of U.S. Senators with a history of playing both sides of the gun control debate.

But they weren’t prepared for the overwhelming outcry from National Association for Gun Rights’ members.

In the face of Bloomberg’s millions, Dudley Brown and the National Association for Gun Rights’ staff developed a grassroots lobbying program to push back against the anti-gun media blitz supporting S. 843.
Throughout early July, National Association for Gun Rights’ members just like you responded to Brown’s call to arms. Dubbed the Internet Blast to Protect Private Firearm Sales, the program was designed to collect signed petitions against the ban as well as unleash a torrent of internet banner ads targeting Senators with a dubious record of support for the Second Amendment.

Through a series of e-mail petitions, National Association for Gun Rights’ members raised nearly $100,000 in less than a week.

Fueled by hundreds of thousands of grassroots petitions, the Internet Blast program targeted U.S. Senators from ten states who have a history of waffling on private firearm sales; including Harry Reid (D-NV), John McCain (R-AZ), and Michael Bennet (D-CO).

Starting on July 15th, the internet was flooded with pro-gun banners calling on gun owners and freedom activists to flood the targeted Senator’s offices with phone calls and petitions demanding that they stand up and protect private firearm sales.

Due to the overwhelming response from members just like you, all the momentum behind Bloomberg’s Ban on Private Firearm Sales (S.843) has disappeared.

Under an avalanche of phone calls and petitions, Bloomberg’s Ban on Private Firearm Sales hasn’t even received a committee hearing let alone a vote on the Senate floor.

This program is a prime example of the power of grassroots advocacy and election year lobbying of weak-willed politicians.

Bloomberg is the mayor of New York City and it is his job to run that city not to spread
his anti gun propaganda around the country. I am surprised that New Yorkers let him spend all that time with dealings outside his city when there is so much to do there.

WHAY DO THE POPLE IN NEW YORK PUT UP WITH THIS NUT, GET HIM OUT OF OFFICE.

  4. Bloomberg, just tyifies the “privileged class” view of….the citizens aren’t capable of
making good decisions or choices….so we must “direct” them. He and all the many privileged, self anointed ones need to be put in their place. That only can occure with an
envolved, attentive citizenry…..who will hold officials accountable !!!

Unfortunately, although we think the tide may have turned in our favor with the elections, we have an uphill battle ahead of us. We might as well just admit that it’s going to be an uphill battle for the rest of our lives, with the citizens seeing their rights, all rights not just 2a, slowly eroded away. With the funding the progressive socialists have on their side there’s no way we’ll be able to keep up in the long run. Time is definitely not on the side of patriotic, freedom loving citizens in this country, nor in any other country for that matter. The gov’t of Australia has disarmed Australians, the UK disarmed their citizens long ago, Canada has severe restrictions on firearm ownership, and the list goes on and on. What options do the people have left, those that highly value their freedoms and liberties?
Seeing the “Tea Party” in the U.S. take shape, together with the political awakening of a big majority of the people, gave the left pause, but only for a moment. Those that would enslave the masses then only realized that it would take a little while longer to have their way. The American middle class, in the left’s opinion, MUST be disarmed, they cannot accomplish their goal of ridding America of her sovereignty without this crucial step, period. The proponents of a one world government fear an armed citizenry, they realize just as we do that the Second Amendment is not only about hunting or even self-defense-it’s about so much more. They realize that the intentions of the Founding Fathers were for future generations to be able to fend off democratically elected officials which had gone the way of tyranny and oppression. This is the true reason for their fear of an armed citizenry, and if everyone sat down and gave it some serious thought they would see the truth in it.
So…sadly, we must continue the fight against this well funded and determined enemy. If we lose this fight we do so at our own peril, and our future generations might well suffer under some type of bondage we cannot even comprehend yet.

We must srengthen the tea party for our constitutional rights! We must find and support candidates that will stand for our constitution!!! We must stand and fight for our rights just like our forefathers. Nothing worthwhile is given to us. We must decide, do we want to be free men and women or slaves?

  7. Bill Kutney says:

No one is above the law, nor is anyone beneath it, nor do I ask anyone permission when I require him to obey it. I do not know what makes Bloomberg thinks he is exempt. Thank you Dudley calling this felon a felon.

    Regards,

    Bill

I will stand up and fight anyone who would take any, i say again, ANY of my rights or the rights of my fellow american citizens.
