State Senate to Squander Support for Second Amendment

It’s more than one year into the first Republican controlled Minnesota State Legislature in a generation, and so far, lawmakers have done absolutely nothing to support your Second Amendment rights.

Tomorrow that could change.

Last year’s omnibus gun bill — HF-1467 — has already passed the House and sources say it could be voted on by the full Senate as early as tomorrow.

The bill covers topics from prohibiting the confiscation of firearms during a State of Emergency to strengthening the “Make My Day” law.

But this bill is far from perfect!

  • It does not legalize “Constitutional Carry,” which would recognize the right to carry a firearm concealed for self-defense without a government permission slip.
  • If you shoot an assailant in self-defense this bill will not prevent him from suing you in civil court! This could cost victims thousands of dollars in legal fees.
  • Proposed language to the bill would make it a crime to change your address without notifying authorities, if you have a permit.

Legislators can — and must — do better than this!

Remember, this is the first time in over forty years that Republicans have held both chambers.

This might be the most “pro-gun” legislation passed for the next forty years, and it should not be riddled with any anti-gun language or omissions.

Without your help, anti-gun Democrats and RINOs will squander this opportunity by not passing the strongest protections for your Second Amendment rights.

Call your State Senator at (651) 296-0504 or click here to find your State Senator.

Demand they support HF-1467 ONLY after amending it to prevent assailants form suing victims, and to recognize law-abiding citizens’ constitutional right to carry a firearm without government permission.

Tell them not to waste this opportunity to support your Second Amendment rights by passing a weak bill that imposes new restrictions on gun owners.

P.S. The National Association for Gun Rights is working day and night to keep gun owners like you up-to-date on all gun issues — please consider contributing to the effort by chipping in $15 or $20.
