I have huge news, Fellow Patriot

Dear Fellow Patriot,

If you are ready to restore the Second Amendment in our country, you’ll want to keep reading.

The “Silencers Helping Us Save Hearing Act” (SHUSH Act) -- a bill that would end the foolish Federal control on firearm suppressors -- has been introduced in the U.S. Senate by Senator Mike Lee and in the U.S. House by Congressman Steve King!

Drafted by NAGR, the SHUSH Act is the farthest reaching bill relating to suppressors in Congress.

It removes ALL Federal restrictions on suppressors, simply treating them like any other firearm accessory (instead of heavily regulating them like machine guns, which is current law).

Thanks to you and your fellow pro-gun Americans, the National Association for Gun Rights has a real chance to pass the SHUSH Act!

And in order to do that, our goal is to add the maximum number of cosponsors on this vital legislation.

In August, Congress will commence their summer recess, and head back to their home states.

We MUST use their time back in their districts to really turn up the heat.

To launch a Cosponsor Blitz, you and I must turn up the pressure like never before.

You see, there are still scores of Congressmen and Senators who claim to be pro-gun – but have not cosponsored the SHUSH Act.

They are ripe political marks for our cosponsor programs.

At the same time, the current cosponsors must have no question that action on the SHUSH Act remains a top priority for you.

The fact is, in order to convince Congressional leadership to schedule hearings and ultimately fully legalize suppressors, you and I need all the cosponsors and grassroots pressure we can mobilize.

To do that, you and I must flood Congress with a tidal wave of petitions.

That’s why your National Association for Gun Rights has ramped up nationwide recruitment of voters in every state with the goal of identifying and mobilizing an additional 200,000 voters in targeted districts and states . . .

. . . voters who believe strongly that the Second Amendment must be restored fully in our country.

We already have a majority in Congress that claims to be “pro-gun,” at least in some general sense.

So my ultimate goal is to identify 9,000 committed pro-gun households in each of those target districts throughout the country.

Of course, mobilizing this much national grassroots pressure is expensive, but it is the only way we’ll reach the majority in Congress we need to pass the SHUSH Act.

And if successful, you and I could add at least 20 to 25 new cosponsors in the House and the Senate in the next 45 days!

But to run this Cosponsor Blitz, your NAGR must raise an additional $90,000 by August 8th.

I know that sounds like a lot, but trust me, every penny is necessary with an ambitious national plan like this.

Our cosponsor targets will be flooded with the voices of thousands of pro-gun Americans like you, urging them to add their names to the SHUSH Act.

The Cosponsor Blitz plan includes:

*** Mobilizing tens of thousands of pro-gun households to generate a flood of additional petitions and recruit dozens of new cosponsors;

*** Placing targeted emails and Facebook ads in key swing districts;

*** Ongoing personal lobbying of targeted Congressmen; and

*** Expanding our nationwide phone and mail campaign to mobilize an additional 300,000 hard-core pro-gun voters in targeted states and districts.

So will you please agree to a donation of $20 or more today?

You and I must make sure that every cosponsor target, as well as House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, are inundated with petitions from thousands of pro-gun Americans.

That’s why it’s critical you contribute as much as you can, whether it’s $20 or some other amount, to this Cosponsor Blitz.

Every new pro-gun American we contact means another petition on the desks of our cosponsor targets.

And these petitions are the key ingredient in your National Association for Gun Right’s plan to pass the SHUSH Act.

You see, whether or not the bill passes, just compelling a vote on the SHUSH Act is a win-win.

If you and other pro-gun activists pour on enough pressure, we can force politicians from both parties who were elected on pro-gun platforms to make good on their promises and ultimately win passage of this bill.

And even if the SHUSH Act doesn’t pass immediately, the public attention will send another crew of radical gun grabbers down to defeat in the next election.

But all of this is dependent on your action today, Fellow Patriot.

So will you please agree to a donation of $20 or more today?

Even if it’s just making a donation of $20 or some other amount, please do so.

Without your support today, the National Association for Gun Right’s Cosponsor Blitz may not have the impact required to build momentum for the SHUSH Act.

SHUSH Act seeks to enhance Second Amendment gun rights by removing silencers and mufflers from federal regulation

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Steve King and Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) have jointly introduced important gun rights legislation that removes silencers and mufflers from federal regulation. The legislation is known as the “Silencers Help Us Save Hearing” Act of 2017 (SHUSH Act). If enacted, the SHUSH Act would remove suppressors from federal regulation, ensuring that they are treated the same as other gun accessories. As a result, the purchase of a suppressor would no longer be subjected to the costly and burdensome process required under current law.

“Allowing gun owners to purchase suppressors absent federal regulation is important not just because they have a Constitutional right to do so, but because there is no rationale behind treating suppressors differently than other firearm accessories,” said King. “While liberal elites and Hollywood have demonized suppressors as something that criminals use, in truth suppressors serve a safe and rational purpose for law abiding gun owners like any other accessory. Suppressors reduce muzzle blast and recoil, improving accuracy and allowing for more effective communication on shooting ranges, or on a hunt, ensuring better safety. They should be treated like other gun accessories.”

Senator Mike Lee offered the following comments upon the introduction of his Senate companion legislation: “Suppressors can make shooting safer for the millions of hunters and sportsmen that exercise their Constitutional right to use firearms every year. The current process for obtaining a suppressor is far too expensive and burdensome. Our bill would remove these unnecessary federal regulations and make it easier for firearms users to protect themselves.”

The King-Lee legislation has the strong support of the National Association for Gun Rights (NAGR), a Second Amendment advocacy group composed of over 4.5 million members. NAGR President Dudley Brown has indicated that this bill will be a priority item for his organization. “Rep. King and Sen. Lee are champions for gun rights, and their joint legislation displays their dedication to restoring the Second Amendment rights of all law-abiding Americans,” said Brown. “Most in Congress who support silencer freedom want full deregulation, and that’s exactly what King and Lee are doing with H.R. 3139 and S. 1505.”

In the House of Representatives, Congressman King’s legislation has been designated H.R. 3139. Senator Lee’s Senate companion bill is designated S. 1505. H.R. 3139 has been referred to the House Judiciary Committee and to the House Ways and Means Committee. Congressman King is a member of the House Judiciary Committee.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) is notorious for disregarding gun owners’ rights and targeting our freedoms.

Under the Obama administration, the ATF ran a “Fast and Furious” operation, where government bureaucrats secretly transferred hundreds of Americans guns to drug cartels.

The plot behind “Fast and Furious” was that American guns would show up at crime scenes, providing a pretext for the US government to further trample on our rights.

Now further down the road, we are seeing even more of the horrible, bloody consequences of the “Fast and Furious” scheme.

One of these very guns was used to murder an American border patrol agent, Brian Terry.

From 2013 to 2016, ninety-four “Fast and Furious” weapons have been recovered all across Mexico, in over one-third of her states.

Furthermore, documents from the watchdog group Judicial Watch prove that the drug cartels have used “Fast and Furious” guns in at least 69 killings.

Twenty of the ninety-four weapons were located in “violent recoveries,” aka mass killings. One such massacre occurred in June 2014, where 22 people died in a shootout.

These 94 guns represent only about ten percent of the guns that former Attorney General Eric Holder’s ATF handed over to the cartels. And because Mexico’s government is dysfunctional, we will never have the full numbers on how much crime ensued from the ATF’s operation.

The Truth About Guns reports:

New documents obtained by the government watchdog Judicial Watch prove, again, that guns sold through the Obama Justice Department’s Fast and Furious Operation have been used by Mexican cartels for mass murder south of the border,” townhall.com reports. Surprising no one. The entire point of the ATF’s secret anti-gun gun running operation: to connect U.S. gun stores to Mexican crime scenes, to pimp U.S. gun control. (Mission accomplished; U.S. border states still labor under increased reporting restrictions for multiple gun sales.) OK, that and thank or friends in the Sinaloa Cartel. That said, the numbers are pretty amazing . . .

A recent report from the Government Accountability Office (GAO) has exposed the ATF for illegally keeping thousands of gun owners’ private data in their records.

If you buy multiple firearms from a federally licensed dealer, the FFL must report your name and information to the ATF. If the firearms aren’t linked to a crime, the ATF can’t legally keep the information for more than two years.

However, the bureau has illegally kept over 10,000 records on gun buyers, and did not delete the gun owners’ data until May 2016.

Gun-grabbers are always pushing for more gun control — and they want the ATF to get away with creating a de facto gun registration.

From 2007 to 2009, the ATF ran a program called the Firearm Recovery Notification Program (FRNP). After cancelling FRNP in 2009, they should have deleted the data, but it took seven years before they did so, in March 2016.

Furthermore, GAO discovered that a technical defect allows ATF agents to access FRNP data—including purchaser data—beyond what ATF policy permits.

The ATF is permanently restricted from using funds to consolidate or centralize records on gun sales. However, up till March 2016, the ATF was illegally maintaining records collected from FFLs that had gone out of business.

Last but not least, the ATF broke yet another law, the “Antideficiency Act,” which requires agencies to report their violations to the President and Congress. Not surprisingly, the bureau failed to report their violations.

The ATF’s track record of violating rules goes back as far as 1996.

If gun-grabbing elitist politicians had their way, we would only see this bureau expand — and the rules for deleting private information would be tossed.

Personal Liberty reports:

The government’s top watchdog revealed in a new report that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) essentially maintained a database of law-abiding gun owners by ignoring its own policies.

According to Government Accountability Office (GAO) auditors, BATFE failed to remove the names of gun purchasers from its Multiple Sales (MS) database and another system called Access 2000 which allowed it to stockpile information on lawful gun owners by scouring the records of out of business federal firearms license holders.
