New Gun Control Group Eyes Anti-gun Ballot Provisions in 2024

End Gun Violence Michigan will promote numerous gun controls in the next two years

Lansing, MI – A group named End Gun Violence Michigan has formed an exploratory committee to promote various forms of gun control, aiming to get them on the ballot during the 2024 election cycle.

“This is just another way to erode the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding Michiganders, while also funneling out of state money into our state,” said Brenden Boudreau, Executive Director for Great Lakes Gun Rights. “It’s laughable that this group claims to be fighting against the “powerful” gun lobby when the gun control lobby consistently outspends Second Amendment groups in these ballot measure fights.”

During the 2016 election, gun control advocates outspent gun rights organizations nearly 6 to 1 in a ballot measure fight in Maine, with Everytown for Gun Safety, an entity that receives heavy funding from Michael Bloomberg, providing nearly $6 million dollars of the total dollars raised by the proponents of the ballot measure.

According to a report from The Detroit News, End Gun Violence Michigan will, “advocate for policies such as safe gun storage laws, universal background checks, red flag laws for domestic violence or high risk cases and bills preventing the carry of guns in the Capitol.”

Great Lakes Gun Rights and its members actively opposes all these measures in their legislative form, and has successfully stopped their passage in the Michigan legislature.

“Not a single proposal by this group will do anything to curb gun violence or stop violent criminals. Instead, honest citizens will further be disarmed while murderers bent on destruction have an easier time picking out their next victims. This is yet another AstroTurf group that’ll likely be funded by Michael Bloomberg to spread misinformation in their quest to strip as many law-abiding Michiganders of their gun rights as possible,” concluded Boudreau.

Great Lakes Gun Rights is opposed to these gun control initiatives, and is engaging its members to oppose them.
